In memory of Alison Atkins

The 1 year anniversary of Alison’s death is almost upon us.

I’m sure that nearly all of you will know all about Alison. but for those who don’t, Alison was an amazing young women, beautiful, kind, wise beyond her years, and an amazing ambassador for IBD and ostomies. she was also an amazing friend, wonderful daughter and sister. The shock of her passing is something which will stay with me forever. Alison may only have been 16yrs old, but the footprint she left on this world is giant! Alison touched people all over the world, even those who never knew her personally.

Alison’s parents are asking for us all to let go of a purple balloon, or light a candle this weekend (26th-28th)

I have also made a banner for facebook and I’m asking everyone to please use this as your banner this weekend, in order to remember Alison, but to also bring comfort to her family, to show that Alison will never be forgotten. i am also asking everyone to please share Alison’s memorial video on there timeline, and share, share, share! i have attatched the banner and a link to the video on facebook on this blog. Lets make it go viral!

Thank you x

Vow renewal, my new job and summer!

I realised I have not blogged in a while and so much has happened!

On the 7th July me and my husband renewed our wedding vows, it was our 12th anniversary. I had many people ask why we were renewing our vows, isn’t that something you do on your silver anniversary??

So here are my reasons. Part of the reason was my ring was pretty damaged through illness and surgeries, having to be cut off then melted back together. We thought it would be nice to get new rings but using the gold from our original rings. It felt more fitting to give each other the new rings. Also our anniversary fell on a Sunday, so we thought it would be perfect to give our rings with our friends and family around us. But the MAIN reason was what we’ve been through, what I’ve been through, and how totally amazing my husband has been through the whole battle. Through all of this, and also by hearing other peoples experiences I wanted to publically say thank you, and acknowledge all that he has done, and for us to celebrate 12 years with our friends and family.

I made this video to publically say thank you to Paul.

It was a great day. A very good friend and fellow IBD’er provided our ‘wedding car’, kitt the knight rider car, which was totally amazing! My very good friend who is also our pastor did the service, full of games and sweets! My son played my favourite hymm on the piano, And we had a wonderful time sharing a bring and share lunch with the people who mean a lot to us.

I began work as an outrach worker for the children’s disability team. I am really enjoying it!

We’ve all been having lovely summer weather! A perfect excuse for me to get into the sea! YES you CAN swim with an ostomy!!!!!!!

I have to give a little shout out to Nicola dames at vanilla blush! I would recommend you take a look at the website http://www.vblush.com. Though I have to say you don’t need to wear ostomy swimwear, I sometimes wear a lovely swimdress from M&S, with a ostomysupport band underneath, but I personally prefer he pocket in vblush.

Here is some pics of me doing what any other person can do!

Get out and enjoy the summer and live life to the full!!!!
